What is Loire Valley famous for

The Loire Valley is famous for its chateaux, wines and the countryside. It is often called the garden of France. The climate is pleasant but without the heat of the south of France. The nearest chateaux to our french holiday homes are Chinon, Azay le Rideau, Islette and Rivau.

How far is Loire Valley from Paris by train

The TGV takes approximately 1 hour to reach St Pierre des Corps and/or Tours. Tours/St Pierre des Corps is a 40 minutes drive from our holiday homes in the loire valley. There is a train service from Azay le Rideau to Tours.

Where is the Loire Valley in france

The Loire valley is approx 150m to south-west of Paris

What to see in the loire valley

Medieval towns, castles, and rolling countryside

Where is the nearest petrol station to the gites

The nearest petrol station is at Super U in Ile Bouchard which is 3 miles from our holiday lets in the loire valley

Are the 2 gites close to each other

The gites are about 15m apart. They are however completely separate and have their own private patios which are not overlooked by either the other gite or our house. The gardens are extensive-over 2 acres so there is plenty of room

Why do we have set hours for the pool

We have set hours to give families their own private time around the pools. This work well when we have small children in one gite and older children in the other. We understand this does not always work particularly when guests return later form a day out then please ask as we have nearly always been able to accommodate similar requests. The rental contract has the pool hours

How to get to Loire Valley from London 

There are 3 options:-

-fly from Stansted to Tours or Poitiers on Ryanair

-Eurostar to Paris and then train to St Pierre des Corps (which is just outside Tours)

-drive using Eurotunnel or ferry - Dover-Calais, Newhaven-Dieppe, Portsmouth-Ouisterham, St Malo or Cherbourg
