Main Towns near Avon les Roches

Chinon

The mediaeval town which is 13 miles from the gites has pretty streets and an imposing fortified castle is a popular. The town has a number of restaurants to cater for all tastes. There is a large market on Thursdays. There are also a large selection of shops, banks etc

Ile Bouchard

The town is approximately 3.5 miles from Avon les Roches. In the town there are supermarkets, 2 bakers, banks, chemists and a number of other shops where you can everyday items. There is a medical center. The town is an easy cycle ride form the gites through the local vineyards

Azay le Rideau

A pretty medieval town with the main chateau very close to the center. It is 9 miles form Avon les Roches. There is a selection of restaurants and shops. There is a station with trains into Tours taking approximately 30 mins.

Food Markets

The main market is held on a Thursday morning. It is one of largest in the area. Visit the castle in the afternoon

Chinon

Our favourite market held on a Sunday morning. Excellent ice creams at the cafe opposite the chateau.

Langeais

The town is approximately 8 miles form Avon les Roches. The market is held on a Friday morning.

St Maure en Touraine

The market is held in the lovely hall and also on the market square in the middle of the town which is named after the famous cardinal. There is a market every week on a Friday

Richelieu

Markets held on Wednesday and Saturday. After the markets walk through the lovely mediaeval or visit the iconic chateau-one of the most beautiful in the Loire valley
